Dear Visitor,

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am John I, Prince of Freedonia.
The Principality of Freedonia is an effort to establish a new nation,
with the highest amount of freedom for its citizens. We feel that no country
is currently governing effectively; free of corruption, allowing its citizens
appropriate levels of social freedom, and with a minimal amount of economic
burden. We also believe that the United States has strayed too far away from
the spirit of its Declaration of Independence. The US declaration of independence
states:

"That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends (life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness) it is the Right of the People to alter or to
abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles
and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to
effect their Safety and Happiness."

While we in no way seek a revolution of the US government, or a secession
from it, we do strive to found a new nation of liberty. We plan to do this by
purchasing land with sovereignty rights from a Caribbean or pacific nation, by
constructing an island in international waters, or possibly with the new
MS Manumission project. We are trying to find a home for the principality where
we may establish our new nation and exercise our political ideals.

I am sure many of you must think we are crazy, and that establishing a
new nation is a stupid and ridiculous idea. However, even though times
have changed, the idea of creating a new nation based on some higher
ideology is no more ridiculous now than when the United States was
created a little over 200 years ago.

I invite you to become a citizen of our Principality, and to help us
achieve the creation of this new nation. Most of our citizens find that
participating in our efforts is a fun and exiting experience, and some
see it as a hobby. We currently have many open positions in the government. We
also have consulates in France, Germany, and Australia, as well as an embassy
in Ireland. We are looking to establish consulates and embassies
in every nation. Even if you don't want to take an active role in our efforts, you
can still become a citizen, vote in parliament elections when the parliament
is formed, and benefit when Freedonia is established. Becoming a citizen doesn't
cost anything, and passports are given to citizens for free upon request.
