Sovereignty Plans
Pitcairn Island
Adamstown, Pitcairn
Recently, we have become aware of another potential location for sovereign territory: Pitcairn Island. Pitcairn Island is currently a British Colony, however past press has shown that the UK government is no longer interested in governing this island. Currently, the island is not self-sufficient, and there have been suggestions that it might be transferred to French rule.
What also makes the island interesting
is that an eccentric US millionare offered to buy the island in the early
1980's, and his offer was considered very seriously by Her Majesty's Government.
He proposed to pay $1M US, plus construct an airport on Henderson
Island, in return for a 999 year lease. Eventually the british government
did turn down the offer, but it is quite possible that attitudues may have
changed with the passage of time, changing of politics, and continued hassle
of governing this island.
While the island is currently not self supporting, with our legal system and libertarianism the island could easily become a thriving metropolis. The great level of freedom would be a great draw for tourism, while the favorable tax structure would be a big draw for finance and industry.
We are currently searching for more information regarding the island, including information on its geography and topography. We are also in the middle of contacting the branch of the UK government responsible for governace of the island, to see if we may be able to form some sort of a deal.
More information will appear here as it becomes available.
